We may be a little biased, but our personal favorite way to celebrate Halloween is through our zoo’s annual Howl-O-Ween Extravaganza on October 28th and 29th! During this incredible San Antonio fall event, families can attend our entertaining Halloween-themed animal shows, navigate our tricky corn maze, and even enter our spooktacular costume contest. Since there is truly no better way to celebrate this fun-filled holiday than to dress in costume, we encourage guests of all ages to attend our Halloween event in costume— the more, the merrier! From our one of a kind Rocky Horror Lemur show to our Meat-Eating Monster Mash show, our zoo offers spooktacular animal shows for all kinds of animal lovers. During many of these shows, you can watch in awe as our animals indulge in extra special, Halloween-themed enrichment! As a sneak peek of what’s to come, we will be feeding our adorable otters bits of pumpkin and our carnivorous creatures carved jack o’lanterns stuffed with meat! One activity that is perfect for local families who want to navigate a haunted corn maze is Traders Village’s very own CORNy Maze 2023! This particular corn maze is special since it is the largest corn maze in south Texas, unfolding over 10 acres of land. To make the maze even better, families can choose between three trails of varying difficulties! This experience doubles as an incredible way to take in the changing of the fall leaves and the brisk San Antonio fall weather! 

Another amazing event that you should check out if you’re already thinking about cute or spooky costume contest ideas for the whole family is Sylver Spoon Dinner Theater’s DISNEY Costume Party and Trivia event! During this event, families can go on a haunted hayride, trick or treat to get yummy candy, and roast s’mores all before the sun goes down. Since this event takes place in the afternoon, it is perfect for families with young children!

Another incredible event that is sure to get you in the San Antonio fall spirit is the Ernest T Dixon UMC Children’s Ministry Presents Trunk or Treat event! At this event, you can expect plenty of trick or treating opportunities and are encouraged to dress up in your Halloween costume. Besides boasting plenty of sweet treats, this event will also have plenty of sweet sights in the form of creatively decorated trunks. While this event does not include a haunted corn maze, it is still an incredible way to make memories with the whole family this Halloween season!
