Designed to give families a safe, fun way to celebrate Halloween, this event brought costumes, candy, and captivating animal encounters together in a thrilling experience. From trick-or-treating to exclusive shows, our Halloween event had something for everyone. Showing Off Your Halloween Costume & Trick Or Treating
Trick-or-treating stations were set up throughout the zoo, giving kids a chance to show off their Halloween costumes while filling their bags with candy. With over a dozen trick-or-treat spots, our guests were able to showcase their creative and spooky costume ideas. We also held a Halloween costume contest where guests could submit their photos via social media for the chance to win free tickets! We had so many great entries and we can’t wait to see what you come up with next year!
Spooky Halloween Decorations at the Zoo
This year’s Halloween decorations transformed the zoo into a Halloween wonderland, featuring themed hay stations, spooky scary skeletons, and even Beetlejuice made an appearance! This, paired with all of the guests’ amazing Halloween costume ideas, made for an unforgettable Halloween event in New Braunfels.

Brave the Creepy Crawly Station
For the daring visitors, our Creepy Crawly Station offered a chance to get up close and personal with some of the zoo’s most spooky creatures. Guests could hold worms and cockroaches, making it an unforgettable Halloween experience for anyone looking to conquer their fears! This hands-on encounter was a big hit, with brave participants learning about these fascinating creatures while discovering their own courage.
An Exclusive Halloween Croc Show
Halloween brought an exclusive twist to our popular croc show. Usually reserved for the summer, this thrilling Halloween event had our director, Jarrod, diving into the croc exhibit to feed live gators in a heart-pounding display. The crowd watched in suspense as Jarrod expertly maneuvered around and fed the alligators, throwing in some educational facts while doing so.

Halloween Animal Shows and Enrichment
Throughout the day, we hosted Halloween-themed animal shows every 30 minutes, where zookeepers introduced guests to their favorite animals.
From Burmese pythons to Tilly the brown lemur, these interactive and educational shows gave guests of all ages a chance to connect with wildlife up close. Plus, our animals joined in the holiday spirit by enjoying Halloween-themed enrichment treats, like pumpkins, adding to the day’s festivities.
